The Strategic Defence Review 2025 sets out a clear and timely vision for Defence, putting it front and centre of the Government agenda. Its focus on modernisation, agility, and technological advantage is not only welcome but necessary.
The review rightly positions data as a strategic asset. Turning that vision into reality means enabling data access across domains, reducing duplication, and ensuring interoperability from day one. We see this in practice every day, whether supporting the Defence Geographic Centre’s digital transformation or delivering systems that bring data together in coherent, usable form for real-world decision-making.
Speed is a recurring theme throughout the review; speed of deployment, speed of response, and, crucially, speed of decision-making. But decision advantage doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Removing barriers to siloed information and enabling secure, federated data access is a challenge defence must continue to prioritise.
