Customer Challenge

Our client is the prime delivery organisation for maritime data nationally, however they needed to undergo a digital transformation to transform production processes from product centric to data centric, enabling the organisation to create and deliver digital services and products for multi-use.  Complexity, multiple data formats/products and differing standards all contributed to the challenge. They sought to find a geospatial data partner, to increase efficiencies in data production and data accessibility for their partners.

Envitia Solution

Envitia used its geospatial expertise and an open standards approach, including ISO, Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and defence mandated standards to design, build and deploy an end-to-end geospatial platform for data dissemination and exploitation of maritime data products and features. This system allows multiple & disparate users across the UK MOD to search, discover, view and download data from an authoritative specialist geospatial centre.

Business Outcome

The provision of this platform and data-centric capabilities has improved access to authoritative maritime data across the client and its partners, reducing data interrogation times from weeks to seconds. This solution enables end users to automatically create customised digital data products for their business needs. This also enables the data to be used in AI or machine learning systems, to fully exploit the value of location data.

Envitia Project Highlight

“This programme will transform the business processes from delivery of pre-configured maritime products to delivering on demand digital data services for their UK and future international customer base. Envitia looks forward to supporting this solution in the coming years, working with the client to innovate and improve with agility.”
