Open systems for exploiting geospatial information
Envitia helps organisations to make use of geospatial intelligence in critical operational environments through an open systems approach.
We have complemented our high-performance, specialist geospatial software with open source GIS products for more than five years. By using commercially supported open source GIS software we help minimise license costs and enable organisations to achieve sustainable value over the lifetime of their solution. We are widely acknowledged as being at the forefront of use and support of open source GIS software, including GeoNetwork, Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) and Geoserver.
A key part of our approach is the use of geospatial open standards wherever possible. This helps to ensure that specific components are interoperable and reduces the potential for vendor lock in. We are Technical Committee members of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and closely involved in the development and testing of new standards.
We also support self-sufficiency by providing a combination of open toolkits and comprehensive training and skills transfer. Over time, this means many organisations can take full control of their solution.
Training and support
Over the last 15 years, Envitia has provided GIS related training to more than 150 organisations, accommodating a range of class sizes, skills and knowledge levels. We offer a range of standard courses for open source GIS components as well as bespoke courses. We also provide full maintenance and support for the open source GIS software used in our solutions.
