A month in and already feeling welcomed
When I joined Envitia last month, I immediately felt welcomed. Everyone was warm, friendly and supportive, which made my first days feel relaxed and open. As a woman in tech, that kind of start really matters.
Even in meetings, when I shared ideas or asked questions, people listened. They nodded, responded and engaged – (which may not exactly be groundbreaking behaviour, but actually surprisingly rare in tech fields, so it stood out to me!) The regular check ins and open conversations has given me a chance to ask questions and share ideas without feeling like I was asking a silly question or giving a non sensical idea and that has really been nice and helped.
Representation that matters
Seeing women in Head Of roles and other senior positions managing projects and departments has really stood out to me. It’s one thing to have women represented, but here, women aren’t just present, but they are actually actively shaping the direction of the company.
Safety to be yourself I’ve felt comfortable being myself from the start. There’s no pressure to over‑polish and change myself to fit in. Just be genuine, do my best and work hard but natural. The environment here feels safe enough to be transparent and ask questions.
An International Women’s Day perspective
Progress to me looks like women having opportunities to grow, be heard and lead but not as a special initiative, just as the normal way of doing things.
I think there are still moments where women may be subtly steered toward certain roles or expectations. It’s not usually meant to be malicious, just habits the wider tech world is still learning to outgrow. But the momentum is really encouraging.
Looking ahead
I’m excited to keep learning, develop my skills, take on more responsibility and grow into someone who can confidently contribute to decisions and projects. I want to make a meaningful impact while continuing to enjoy the supportive, inclusive environment I’ve found here.
