With an increasing presence in the technology and data sector year on year, women are playing significant roles in supporting the UK Government’s goals for digital transformation. Women taking leading roles in data innovation is crucial for fostering diversity and inclusion in public services.

There is growing volume of government initiatives that support equality, such as the government’s Levelling Up agenda, which advocates expanding opportunities and bridging inequalities, and the Digital Skills Partnerships that focuses on equipping people with digital skills necessary for today’s data-driven jobs.

Female data leaders in the UK are actively advocating for more inclusive recruitment and mentorship practices, setting up frameworks to attract and retain talent from diverse backgrounds.

Envitia recognises the importance of diversity within Public Sector contract delivery. We are pioneering equality through our framework approach to mentoring and career advancement and are committed to increasing the percentage of women in our central government contracts annually.

Organisations such as Women in Data, Women in Defence and Women in Tech are creating platforms for women to collaborate and support each other. Envitia is proud to be a contributor to these networks that help build support systems and pioneer the sharing of ideas.

Within our team we have women working on projects for clients such as the Home Office, Defence Digital and Natural England. Their excellent work in data architecture, data analysis, technology assessment and data modelling enables more accurate, unbiased use of data that is driving policy decisions and operational needs.

We encourage women-led mentorship within our organisation. This is empowering individuals in all departments from Consulting to Sales, fostering an inclusive environment that thrives on accountability, teamwork and over-communication.

Envitia People and Culture Director, Rowena Cowan said, “Women’s involvement in data is vital not only for advancing gender equality but for bringing varied insights to government data projects that benefit society. Envitia will continue to support women through fair, equitable and transparent initiatives.”

We are proud to have women in data at Envitia contributing to digital transformation projects that enhance government efficiency and citizen experiences. In the run-up to Women in Data® Week (25th-29th Nov) – we urge our partners to review the brilliant free resources on offer on the Women in Data website.
