Role description

The Role

We are looking to grow our talented engineering practice, by augmenting it with a driven and enthusiastic Infrastructure Engineer. This role will require excellent engineering skills and knowledge of practices, with experience working in highly secure/operational / highly critical environments. You will need to be a self-starter, and show initiative with minimal direction in a fast-paced and changing environment, whilst contributing to ongoing designs and service improvements.

Our delivery portfolio of work is ever-changing, but you can expect to work on a variety of projects across customers in the public sector (e.g. Environment Agency, Ministry of Defence), to support business development activities, and contribute to the development of new service offerings.

Key skills:

  • Operational experience in a production setting working with VMWare Cloud Foundation and managing to a 3rd line level
  • VMware vRealize, specifically vRealize Automation of install, configuration, and management of tenant and core services in live/operational IaaS multi-tenanted environment also integration with GitLab
  • VMware vROPs for tenant and core service monitoring and customer dashboard scenarios in a live/operational IaaS
  • VMware Log and network insight Design, deploy, troubleshoot, and manage to a 3rd line level
  • VMware NSX-T virtualized networking experience
  • Linux operating system experience (Ubuntu preferred) Design, deploy, troubleshoot, and manage to a 3rd line level including active directory integration into Linux
  • Windows OS, active directory, and windows centric core services (WSUS, SCCM, etc) Design, deploy, troubleshoot, and manage to a 3rd line level
  • Deployment and management of Splunk with a security incident and event management use case, also with a tenant-specific application monitoring context. Experience with Splunk log forwarding to a central cyber security capability
  • Gitlab and scripting/automation experience preferred (Powershell, Salt, Ansible, Terraform, etc)
  • Creation of operating procedures and knowledge articles/process
  • Creation and ongoing updates to detailed system design and configuration documentation
  • Experience of working in the Defence/MOD sector with some exposure to the MOD accreditation processes

Recruitment Process

  • A introductory call with our HR Team (20 mins)
  • A competency-based interview with our Head of Engineering
  • A final stage interview with our Infrastructure Lead

Many of our public sector and defence customers require UK Security Clearance as a mandated requirement. You’ll need to provide proof of identity, employment history and right to work in the UK, along with proof of UK residency, for at least five years.
