ITS and UTMC

Envitia's ITS and UTMC solutions are core components of many integrated traffic management systems

UTMC

The Urban Traffic Management and Control (UTMC) program is a major national initiative supported by the UK's Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DTLR). UTMC's open management architecture provides cost-effective tools, enabling local authorities to develop integrated policies for urban traffic control that could not be achieved through traditional isolated Urban Traffic Control (UTC) systems.

Some examples of Envitia CUTLAS UTMC based solutions are:

  • Sheffield is running a parking guidance system that consists of a UTMC Common Database receiving car park traffic flow data from multiple car parks and controlling VMS signs from different manufacturers.
  • York's Traffic Congestion Management System was the first operational UTMC system and supports VMS from multiple suppliers, air quality monitoring, UTC, RTPI and much more integrated together with views of the traffic flows.
  • Warwickshire County Council in their Stratford -on- Avon system has a CUTLAS Geographical User Front End and traffic Web publishing system linked to an alternative UTMC Common Database. Intercommunication is possible because all systems follow the UTMC communications specification.

Envitia is a project partner in two of the UTMC demonstrator projects that were established under the heading of UTMC29
