What's New?

What's New in MapLink Pro 6?

MapLink Pro 6 is the most powerful version of the tool kit to date. This release continues to reflect Envitia's commitment to the latest technologies, delivering further benefit to our customers by reducing overheads and ultimately helping with the delivery of the best solutions in the most cost effective manner.

Highlights within MapLink Pro 6 include support for Microsoft Windows 7 and significant enhancements for non-Windows platforms, with more SDK's and market leading performance available for Linux and Solaris.  Web based information delivery is becoming key as increased interoperability and flexible deployment is demanded by the end user.  MapLink Pro 6 supports this through enhanced support for OGC web services.
Further enhancements are outlined below with full details in the product Release Notes.  New demonstrations will also shortly be available in our Downloads section, including an updated 3D application which illustrates new 3D capabilities.
OGC WMS Enhancements

The MapLink Pro Web Map Server has constantly scored highly in benchmark testing delivering an impressive throughput of data, particularly in the latest release.  It was one of the first products to achieve compliance against the OpenGIS® Web Map Service (WMS) Implementation Specification, Version 1.3.0.

MapLink Pro 6 helps you deliver client applications capable of ingesting geospatial data served by OGC compliant services; the new WMS Data Layer means a MapLink Pro application can fuse remote sources of map data with local foundation data.

The new OGC Services SDK in C++, JAVA & .NET dramatically reduce the effort required to both deploy WMS servers and develop client applications.  A new plug-in also means that source CADRG data can be served by the MapLink Pro WMS.

OGC WFS Client Support

The new MapLink Pro WFS Client SDK gives developers the ability to request data through a standard OpenGIS® Web Feature Services (WFS).

GML Read and Write Support

OpenGIS® Geography Markup Language (GML) provides an open standard for interchanging geographical features and other overlay information between different systems.  The new MapLink Pro GML SDK offers the ability to both read and write version 3.1.1 application schemas and instance data, allowing MapLink Pro to exchange data seamlessly with other applications.
3D

Creating a 3D Situational Awareness display which mirrors the information available to the user in 2D is increasingly becoming a demand in C4ISR applications.  MapLink Pro 6 provides significant performance and functional improvements.  Multiple 3D drawing surfaces, higher resolution imagery support and exposure to the developer of additional controls, all result in enhanced 3D display capability.  The drawing of both OpenGL and WMS layers on top of a 3D surface contributes to an even richer display.

Map Data Formats

Several map data filters in MapLink Pro 6 have been updated and extended.  DAFIF 8 is now supported and the DBDBV filter supports the latest update of the specification, version 5.

MapLink Pro 6 can create ASRP data sets, via the ASRP Exporter SDK.  This allows the user of a MapLink Pro developed application to build up a picture in their map display from any number of source formats, add their own overlays and save this to file in ASRP format; another example of Envitia's commitment to interoperability.

Oracle Spatial Database Layer

A new MapLink Pro layer has been added which allows paged access to Oracle Spatial. This layer makes use of the MapLink DBIF SDK. The layer is capable of being used with the Editor SDK thus providing edit facilities and the capability to store the edits back to the database.
