New strategic VMS in Aberdeen
5 Jan 2009
Envitia to support the commisioning of 8 new VMS being installed in Aberdeen Q1 09.
Envitia’s CUTLAS-UTMC advanced traffic management and information system has been developed to include journey time monitoring (JTM) Linking directly to ANPR cameras already in place on major roads in the UK, CUTLAS derives JTM by taking an average of travel time between two (or more) set points. Knowing the distance between them gives an average speed and flags appear on the monitoring station when customisable thresholds are exceeded. Journey time monitoring is part of a strategic traffic management approach.
CUTLAS-UTMC stores data from multiple intelligent transport (ITS) sub systems and sources which brings enhanced situational awareness to traffic management. CUTLAS-UTMC includes advanced journey time monitoring functions that are ANPR camera-type independent. CUTLAS adaptive traffic strategy tools support pro-active traffic management. Aberdeen, an existing CUTLAS-UTMC user, is adding strategic VMS to its system. CUTLAS directly and strategically drives VMS legend-setting, therefore journey times or diversions can be set automatically.
