We will also be running a seminar, presented by Dr Sharon Cooper:

You already have the answer! So how can you get to it? – The complexity of questions being asked of government requires departments to exploit all possible Information to provide the best possible answer. Living, breathing information exists in all areas of government, finding it and understanding how to get it presents a big challenge. Our seminar will describe how these challenges can be overcome and will include a case study based on a project we are involved with in the Ministry of Defence.

Civil Servants can attend for free but if you don’t qualify and would like to come along to meet us on Stand 38, you are welcome to contact Alan Crisp or Fiona Buckingham, Envitia’s Business Development Managers who can give you a guest pass (limited number available).

We look forward to catching up with you then.

Envitia Discovery for Modeling and Simulation helps organisations with the discovery and management of content. This is essential in reducing the timeline for integrating real world data into synthetic environments. This leads to tangible cost and time savings.  It helps organisations provide information-rich content and immerses trainees in highly relevant, dynamic simulations. This webinar demonstrates how these benefits are realized.

Are you interested in the following?
  • Building rich and immersive training environments that are more relevant to immediate operational needs by consuming operational GEOINT.
  • Lowering  the total cost of ownership of simulation systems by using fewer tools across the enterprise
  • Improve training results by running simulations alongside operations and present ‘what-if’ analysis on a live basis.
  • Reduce costs by generating operational system data from simulations, allowing users to train directly on the systems they will use operationally.

Key takeaways:
    • In this session we’ll cover:
    • How you can now seamlessly manage synthetic and live data assets.
    • Automate the identification, cataloging, versioning and management of file or folder-based spatial data assets.
    • How to find, access and re-use all relevant data assets

Envitia will present: Positional Improvement: Lessons Learned from GB Cadastres, Utilities and Local Government.

Data accuracy is one of the most important considerations for any organisation using GIS as a tool for business critical operations.  Fundamental to the value of spatial datasets is an AGI NIaccurate relationship between data held in the GIS platform and the situation in the real world. Disparity between these can lead to at best a lack of confidence in the data from users/consumers, reduced benefit from the GI system and duplication of effort.   Positional accuracy becomes even more critically important where GIS data is used for collection of rates, payment of grants/subsidies, decisions on site selection or where to dig a hole to repair an electricity cable or water main.

Envitia are experts in the area of geospatial data accuracy with long-standing experience in solving positional accuracy issues in GB, Northern Ireland, Belgium, USA and Australia.  We understand the challenges faced by organisations in Northern Ireland in trying to maintain data accuracy in line with the LPS Positional Improvement programme.  In this presentation we will offer an effective process to manage Positional Improvement proven in over 150 organisations worldwide.

Digital Hydrography on the Maritime Web. Embracing the challenges and opportunities.

Organised and hosted by The Hydrographic Society UK, in association with the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IHydro ConferenceFHS) and International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), this two-day conference will review the progress made, and steps still to be taken, by professional hydrographers to support the move towards a maritime web, commonly known as e-navigation.

Brendan Mason, Envitia Ltd and Tim Clarke, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (UK) will present: Can the maritime crowd be trusted for sourcing bathymetry data?

Crowdsourced data is the ‘non-authoritative’ alternative to sourcing information, which is revolutionising public knowledge of the world around them. Whilst a community of volunteers taking and sharing measurements of the world around them is not new; all over the world weather has been observed and monitored by volunteers for years. It is now, however, in the age of smartphones with built-in GPS, inexpensive survey capabilities and vast number of vessels making measurements of opportunity, that freely available geospatial datasets are transforming the way data are sourced for mapping. However, with lives, expensive hardware and reputations on the line how much faith can be placed in crowdsourced data for maritime applications compared to dedicated surveys? This is a question asked by the UK MOD in support of Royal Navy operations. This paper explores the challenges and benefits of both authoritative and crowdsourced data, and provides some findings from a test case in the Firth of Forth.
